Fentanyl Addiction Essay Contest Scholarship

Nova Vitae Treatment Center will be awarding $1,000 in scholarships each year to a student who is passionate, dedicated, and demonstrates their commitment to improving awareness about the risks of fentanyl abuse and addiction. The scholarship will be awarded based on essay submissions from eligible students.

Applicant requirements:

  • Enrolled full-time in a U.S. institution for graduate or undergraduate programs. (U.S. territories are excluded)
  • U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, U.S. Permanent Residents, Refugees, Asylees, Cuban-Haitian Entrants, or Humanitarian Parolee
  • At least 18 years old

The following applicants may not be eligible: 

  • Owners, volunteers, their children, and grandchildren
  • International students
  • Temporary residents
  • DACA Students

Students may only submit (1) essay 

Essay Guidelines:

If you are aware of the effects of fentanyl addiction and abuse, think about how you would promote more awareness of this issue and how it can be addressed at the local and state level. 

Please have your essay response be no more than 1,200 words in length and address the following questions:

How does fentanyl abuse and addiction affect the community?

What are achievable goals that can be addressed to decrease the impact of fentanyl abuse on the community?

Selected applicants will be determined based on the essay content, style, and quality of work. Our evaluators are looking for detailed essays that are organized in a chronological manner.

Treatment Programs

10 Week program

“Inpatient” then means that the patient needs to be admitted to an addiction treatment center for therapy and detox, typically because he/she needs to be closely monitored.

8 Week program

Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) are treatment programs used to address addictions, depression, eating disorders, or other dependencies that do not require detoxification or round-the-clock supervision.

6 Week program

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, which is effective in the treatment of opioid use disorders (OUD) and can help some people to sustain recovery.

8 Week program

Outpatient rehab is a form of alcohol or drug rehabilitation that allows patients to live at home (or in another safe and therapeutic environment, such as sober living)

6 Week program

Partial hospitalization provides a structured program of outpatient psychiatric services as an alternative to inpatient psychiatric care.

8 Week program

Sober living houses (SLHs) are alcohol and drug free living environments for individuals attempting to abstain from alcohol and drugs

6 Week program

A men’s rehab program is dedicated to helping men overcome drug and alcohol addiction.

8 Week program

Through gender-specific treatment, Redemption Addiction Treatment Center helps address key issues and obstacles that women face in their early recovery.
